Stepping Forward with Mixed Media
Artist/educators Al Colton and Sam Black first introduced me to Mixed Media in Vancouver, B.C.
at special workshops at University Hill School. I later became even more intrigued after
a workshop with Joyce Kamikura, a well-known artist who lives in Richmond, B.C.
Mixed Media is a technique of combining regular and fluid acrylic paints, water-miscible oil paints,
archival inks, and various acrylic textures. These are applied over archival tissue paper
onto primed board, stretched canvas, or minimum 300 lb. artist paper
to achieve a variety of enhanced textures.
